Amelia Earhart Centre
Amelia Earhart Centre:
Located in the north of the city, commemorates the unexpected landing here, of Amelia Earhart on her historic solo flight across the Atlantic, in 1932. A museum guide is available for a tour of the centre, who will show you where Amelia Earhart landed and answer any questions concerning the event. The grounds encompass the Ballyarnett Community Farm and Wildlife Centre, with a range of farmyard animals and wildlife.

Only minutes from central Derry, this splendid, compact museum on the Waterside, sits inside a building that was one of the much-feared 19th-century workhouses. The museum also presents intriguing multimedia exhibitions on two moments in derry's history: the Great Famine and the Battle of the Atlantic.

Fifth Province is a multimedia exhibition that shows the history of Ireland's "Fifth Province", as it calls the world of the Celts. Starting with a brief history of Derry, you travel in a "chariot" as the Celtic warrior Calgach tells you the story of the Celts and of famous Irish people who emigrated. By the end of all that enthusiastic brainwashing, you are thoroughly assimilated and profoundly believe that all the Irish must be geniuses.

If you are interested on tracing your roots, then head to the Genealogy Centre even if you are not interested, a visit here surely will make you. They provide a fee-paying research service with a massive database on people in the Derry and Inishowen peninsula.

Located near the River Foyle in the heart of the city, The Guildhall is a beautiful building and is well worth taking time to see. This neo-Gothic style building is the civic and cultural centre for the people of the city. There are many concerts, exhibitions and meetings held here throughout the year.

Derry's oldest building The Cathedral was built of stone from local quarries and skilled stone is dedicated to Saint Columba, the Ulster monk who established a Christian settlement in the area, the Cathedral has many fine stained glass windows, regimental flags, memorials and a large collection of historical items from the time of the siege.

Tower Museum is located at Union Hall Place; the museum holds exhibitions as The Story of Derry exhibition and An Armada Shipwreck – La Trinidad Valencera. However throughout the year host to other temporary exhibitions, all of them use display and interactive techniques to present their stories to the public.
